You should find answeres to any questions you have on this page or on the league website... If not, get hold of the director or the club rep.
Don't forget to make your game confirmation phone calls
It is a league requirement that every game is confirmed by the coaches. The confirmation is to be made by phone, not by email or text messaging. The away team coach is responsible for calling the home team coach at least 48 hours before game time. However, the home team coach can be the person to initiate the phone call. The following information should be confirmed:
Showing up to the field on game day and wondering where the other team is can be avoided. - Please confirm every game
For complete league game rules & regulations please visit the league's rules page.
Also see the 'Rules of the Game' page for general information about the game. (What all the lines mean & what constitutes a foul etc.).
All substitutions will occur at the mid-field line, with the permission of the referee. (Players will not be able to enter the game from the "bench" area).
No substitutions on a corner kick.
You may substitute players at the following times.
BOYS & GIRLS
NO HEADERS FOR THE U6 - U12 DIVISIONS
The no header rule applies to practice.
PINNEY, GAME BALL & KEEPER SHIRT ETIQUETTE
Pinnies are worn by the home team if the visiting team's jersey is the same color. - However, it would be a good idea to bring pinnies to the away games... just incase.
Game Ball is to be provided by the home team. - Always make sure you have a properly inflated game ball.
The keeper 's shirt is to be a different color as their game jersey, but not the same color as the visiting team's jersey. A keeper's shirt, or a pinney can be used.
Off sides is enforced in all age IM age groups (U10 to U19).
If you're not sure what offside is, or if you're having trouble understanding the rule click on the video image below
RED & YELLOW CARD PROCEDURE
Coaches form both teams are to report any player or players that receive a red or yellow card to the commissioner.
PRACTICE & GAME CANCELLATION PROCEDURES
U6 & U8
Cancellation Decisions Are Made By The Director.
Practice & Game cancellations are normally posted on the home page for these age groups. If it's an ugly raw day and foul weather is imminent we may post the cancellation well in advance of practice/game time. Cancellations will also be posted on the mobile website & sent via Twitter. - If the website editor is unable to post the cancellation your coach will call.
Cancellation Decisions Before The Start Of The Game Are Made By The Coaches. - Once at the field or if the game has started the decision is made by the ref.
Games are required "by the league" to be cancelled by the home team coach (2) hours before the scheduled start time. This means parents should receive a phone call from the coach approx an hour and a half before start time.
Intramural (U10-U15) Practice Cancellations
Coaches call the parents with the cancellations. We do not post cancellations on the home page for the these age groups because it's up to the individual coaches whether or not they will practice or play a game in the rain so they may cancel at the last minute.
Intramural (U10-U15) Make Up Games
If an intramural game is cancelled, the two coaches usually try to reschedule a make up game. The make up games are normally played during the week on a night in place of a practice.
Below are a few sites that are helpful to you as coach, whether you are a beginner or have coached for some time. These liks and the descriptions were provided by 'David Verrier' many years ago. - Thank you, Dave.
A great place to start is Soccer Help. As they say, their "soccer games are better than soccer drills because they are fun, maximize activity, minimize lines, are easy to set up and teach players to play soccer. Coaches will achieve more in less time."
If you want to access a comprehensive soccer manual, go to the SOCCER-COACH-L Basic Coaching Manual. There you find many items of interest, whether you are an experienced coach looking for new ideas or a brand new coach with no idea where to start.
I like some of the drills at Y-Coach!
